What was the highlight of The Man from Snowy River Hotel
Loved the location and the fireplaces but had to wait a long time for food
The guests lounge was fantastic. Breakfast was great. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful
We ordered food from the pub and it took 1.5 hours to arrive. We had to check three times and were told to keep waiting, and found out later the meals had been forgotten. It also wasn’t very clear what food options were available when and from where. The cocktail we ordered from the guests lounge wasn’t very nice but the bar tender was very friendly.

Exceptional
Very comfy and cosy. Breakfast buffet every morning was amazing. Staff are very friendly and accommodating .The hotel is directly across the main restort which makes parking and travel so easy.
Beds were a bit soft.

Great location, extremely unpleasant experience, for a premium price.
Great location, in vicinity to the ski fields.
The restaurant was advertised on the website, however when we arrived, we found out it doesn’t open until later in the month (false advertising?). The only food option in the hotel was pub food next door. The kids chips and nuggets were dry and the pepper sauce was cold. After arriving at the hotel, I received a text message from reception asking me to hand over my car keys to the hotel for the duration of my stay. When I attended reception and advised I will won’t be handing over my car keys, the hotel manager replied in a passive-aggressive tone that it was hotel policy and that it was for the porter to move cars around. I replied that I was parked in a single car spot and not in a tandem car space. Again I was told it was hotel policy for the hotel to hold the car keys. When I asked who is liable if the porter damages my car, the manager replied ‘you’. Excuse me? So, I am not only liable for any damage I may cause to my room (standard), but I am also liable for any damage the porter causes to my car, when they are moving it around the car park. The whole exchange unsettled me. I paid $400 for the night to stay at a hotel who’s advertised restaurant is closed and to be told I am liable for damage the hotel staff might cause to my car. We arrived at the hotel shortly before 3pm and the above conversation occurred at 6:30pm. I decided to pack up my 8yo son and travelled back home to Canberra that night. We usually do day trips to the snow, but I wanted this trip to be special and to have an exciting overnight stay on the mountain. After the experience at TMFSR, we will not recommend it or stay there again.
